Nestled between the picturesque water body of the Deepor Beel– a famous Ramsar site and the Bor Luit- the mighty Brahmaputra river, Girijananda Chowdhury University is on a sprawling 20-acre campus in the outskirts of Guwahati, Assam. Girijananda Chowdhury University was established by the Act No. XLVII of 2022 of the Assam Government as a State Private University under the aegis of Shrimanta Shankar Academy Society registered under the Societies Registration Act 1886. The establishment of Girijananda Chowdhury University has evolved out of the initiative of the Girijananda Institute of Management and Technology (GIMT) and the Girijananda Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (GIPS) to impart professional higher education in a spirit of philanthropy and social commitment. During the last 16 years of their existence, these institutes earned the reputation of quality professional education as evident in the accreditation of the various programmes by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and the award of extramural grants from the AICTE, DST etc
Girls’ Hostel:
The University owns a Girls’ hostel having a total capacity of 216 double bedded seats inside the university campus. The Girls’ Hostel is being looked after by two Hostel wardens and monitored by the Superintendent of the Hostel. Girls’ Hostel of the university has been administered with some rules & regulations and the borders are to follow such rules for smooth running of the day to day activities.
Boys’ Hostel:The Boys’ hostel has a capacity to accommodate 280 students in a six storied building inside the university campus and all are double bedded rooms. The Boys’ Hostel is being looked after by two Hostel wardens and monitored by the Superintendent of the Hostel. Boys’ Hostel of the university has been administered with some rules & regulations and the borders are to follow such rules for smooth running of the day to day activities.
Hostel Admission
- Admission fees/ Security deposit = Rs. 10,000/-
- Monthly fees = Rs. 6000/- per month
- Rooms: Double occupancy
- Security Deposit/ Admission fees is non-refundable within 1 year of withdrawal from the date of admission irrespective of occupancy.
