The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education is the West Bengal state government administered autonomous examining authority for the Standard 10 examination (or secondary school level examination) of West Bengal, India.
In 1951, the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) was established. The Council is the Autonomous Agency for conducting Examination Board for 10th Standard. Council and its headquarters are located in Salt Lake City, Kolkata India.
The West Bengal Board has the responsibility to maintain the standard of education of the State. For this purpose, the WBBSE and WBCHSE boards are in charge of prescribing the syllabus and books for the respective classes, while also in charge of conducting the board exams.
West Bengal education board is divided into 5 mainboards that look into different aspects of the education system in the state. The boards aim to improve the functioning of education bodies, making education policies and conducting secondary and higher secondary education in the state.
West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE)
WBBSE is an autonomous educational body in West Bengal and its main aim of it is to conduct the secondary school level exams i.e. the class 10 exams or the Madhyamik Pariksha.
West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE)
Similar to the WBBSE, the WBCHSE is also an autonomous educational body in West Bengal and the main aim of it is to conduct the Higher secondary level or Pre-university level examination i.e. the class 12 exams.
West Bengal Board of Primary Education (WBBPE)
The West Bengal Board of Primary Education or the WBBPE is an autonomous educational authority administered by the West Bengal state government which oversees primary education in the state.
School Education Department, West Bengal (WBSED)
WBSED or the West Bengal School Education Department is the main educational authority responsible for implementing various educational policies of the West Bengal state government.
West Bengal Board of Madrasah Education (WBBME)
The West Bengal Board of Madrasah Education is administered by the state government and is mainly responsible for conducting exams for all the affiliated madrasahs throughout the state.
