Bachelor of Hotel Management (BHM) is a 3-year intensive course that aims to expose students to the diversity of the hospitality industry. Practical business simulations & real-life professional practices are highlighted in this program.
Students who are planning to pursue BHM must have good communication and organizational skills. Along with this, they should have a pleasing personality and an ability to interact with people and make them feel comfortable.
BHM course is usually divided into six to eight semesters but may vary from institute to institute. Hotel Management deals with the management of the operation of a hotel, motel, resort and similar establishments. It’s main aim is to apply principles of management to solve problems related to the hotel management sector.

Eligibility Criteria for Bachelor of Hotel Management (BHM)
1. The basic educational eligibility criteria for candidates is passing class 10+2 with any relevant stream from any recognized board in India.
2. Applicants are required to have a minimum aggregate of 50% in class 12th. Reserved categories such as SC/ST are provided a relaxation upto 5%.
3. The eligibility criteria for B.H.M. (Bachelor of Hotel Management) might change from institute to institute.
4. Your age should lie between 19-and 22 years (General Category). There is a 2-3 year relaxation for SC and ST candidates.
Admission Process
1. BHM admissions are merit-based, but few of colleges and institutes conduct their own aptitude tests. Entrance exams for which you might have to sit are NCHMCT, and others.
2. Few colleges conduct their own aptitude test at the college level whereas there are some national level entrance exams too. After qualifying the examination, candidates are called for counseling and group discussion rounds.

There are excellent job opportunities available after pursuing BHM undergraduate course since there are various departments in the hotel industry such as Food & Beverages, Front Office, Sales and Marketing, Finance and Accounting, Maintainance, Security etc.
Initially, most of the candidates work as trainees and on completion of their training, they are hired for full-time positions that suit their personality the best. Plenty of job opportunities is available for BHM graduates in various employment sectors correlated to hospitality and tourism.
Mostly, at first, these graduates are hired for training and internships and then they get recruited for the positions that suit their personality at best. The average start salary for a fresher is Rs. 2.5 lakh to Rs.4 lakh. Interested candidates can also go for higher studies like an MHM degree in the same field.
