The National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) 2022 application deadline has been extended till October 15. Eligible students can apply for the fresh or renewal of NMMSS scholarship programme on the official website of the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) at scholarships.gov.in.
The NMCMSS scholarships are awarded to meritorious students of economically weaker sections to arrest their dropouts at Class 8 and encourage them to continue their education at the secondary stage.
One lakh fresh scholarships are awarded to selected students from class nine every year and their continuation/renewal in grades 10 to 12th for students studying in State Government, Government-aided and local body schools.

Eligibility Criteria for NMMS scholarship
1. The students must have scored a minimum of 55 per cent marks or equivalent grade (50 per cent for SC, ST students) in the Class 7 annual examination.
2. Students whose parental income from all sources is not more than Rs 3,50,000 per annum.

Requirements for the continuation of the scholarship |
Along with selection, the student must have to score at least 55% mark (5% relaxation for reserved categories) in the class 8 examination to get a Scholarship in Class 9. Students must pass Class 9 to get a scholarship in Class 10 He/she must secure 60% marks in Class 10 (5% relaxation for reserved categories) to get a scholarship in Class 11. · Must pass Class 11 to get a scholarship in Class 12. |

Students pursuing their studies in private schools. Students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Sainik schools. Students study in residential schools run by state government institutions with facilities like boarding, lodging and education. |
Selection Criteria For NMMS Scholarship
The applicant will have to go through the following selection criteria to get selected for the scholarship scheme presented by the Central Government:-
1. The mental ability test will be conducted to examine the reasoning abilities and critical thinking of the students.
2. This test will have 90 multiple-choice questions.
3. You will have to give answers to the questions related to the topics of analogy, classification, numerical series, pattern perception, hidden figures, etc.
4. Another test will be conducted which is called the scholastic aptitude test.
5. This test will also consist of 90 multiple-choice questions.
6. The syllabus of SAT covers the subjects of science, social studies, and mathematics as per the syllabus of classes 7 and 8.
7. The applicant must score at least 40% marks on each of the tests to get the scholarship.
8. However, for the socially backward category students, the minimum eligibility criteria are to score at least 32% marks.
9. Applicants must also have scored 55% marks in the final examination of class 8.
10. In the SC/ST category students get a relaxation of 5% marks. The applicant must satisfy all of the eligibility criteria.

The amount of the scholarship is Rs 12,000 per annum. The NMMSS is boarded on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) - a one-stop platform for scholarship schemes given to students. The last date for INO level (L1) verification is October 31, 2022, and for DNO level (L2) verification is November 15, 2022.
NMMSS scholarships 2022 are disbursed directly into the bank accounts of selected students by electronic transfer through the Public Financial Management System (PFMS) following DBT mode. This is a 100 per cent centrally sponsored scheme.
