Prime Minister Narendra Modi led Central government had evaluated the problem of OBC and EWS reservation in the All India Quota (AIQ) of medical education.
It has been a long-standing demand from medical aspirants to give OBC reservation in all-India quota of medical education. The decision on seat reservation of NEET 2021 will benefit nearly 1,500 OBC and 550 EWS candidates. Earlier the NEET-UG reservations for OBC and EWS were provided to central universities. Now, the reservation will be provided to state medical and dental colleges under All India scheme.
As per NEET 2021 Reservation Policy, GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD candidates can avail 10%, 27%, 15%, 7.5%, and 5% reservation benefits respectively during the time of admission. For admission in State Medical Colleges/Universities/ Institutions for seats other than 15% All India Quota, the reservation policy of the concerned state government shall apply.
Out of total seats in all government MBBS/BDS colleges, 15% will be reserved for All India Quota (AIQ) seats. The seats under the 15% AIQ scheme will be allotted through NEET-UG reservation criteria.
