Hungary’s Government Fully Funded Scholarship program for international students. The Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship is one of the Best Scholarships to Study in Hungary. Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship will cover tuition fees, stipend of HUF 43,700/month, accommodation contribution of HUF 40 000/month and medical insurance for up to HUF 65 000 a year/person.
Founded by the Hungarian Government in 2013, the programme is supervised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and managed by the Tempus Public Foundation. The Deadline to apply for the Stipendium Hungaricum Program for the year 2025-26 is 15th January 2025. Students from all around the world can apply for Full-time Bachelor, Master, Doctoral, and Part-time Degree programs. The Scholarship covers all the expenses. Candidates can choose from more than 800 full degree programs, covering all higher education fields at all degree levels.
The Objective of Hungary’s Government Fully Funded Scholarship 2025
The Stipendium Hungaricum program is a governmental scholarship program that aims to offer scholarships and study opportunities to the citizens of certain countries. The countries included in the program need to have a valid bilateral educational cooperation plan signed by the Hungarian Ministry of Human Resources and the relevant ministry of the specific country responsible for education.
The scholarships are valid for studies in Hungarian state universities or state colleges in scientific fields determined in the bilateral educational cooperation plans. Programs include full BA/BSc, MA/MSc and PhD studies in Hungarian state-accredited higher education institutions.
The scholarships are awarded by the Hungarian Minister responsible for education based on the nomination of the Tempus Public Foundation. The pre-selection of the candidates is carried out by the Ministry of Education of the given country or by the scholarship board appointed by that ministry.
Eligibility Criteria of Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship 2025-26:
1. Candidates from eligible countries may apply.
2. Candidates applying for a bachelor’s degree must have a secondary school graduation certificate.
3. Candidates must have an excellent academic record.
4. Candidates applying for a master’s degree should have a bachelor’s degree.
5. Candidates applying for doctoral degrees should have a master’s degree.
6. Candidates applying for a one-tier or non-degree program must have a certificate of student status issued by the sending/home university.
7. The responsible authorities of the Sending partner countries must nominate candidates.
Program Duration
Depending on the degree of study, the length of the scholarship varies:
1. For Bachelor’s Scholarships, students can expect the program to last between 2 to 4 years.
2. Master’s Scholarships typically have a program duration of 1.5 to 2 years.
3. For a One-tier master, the program lasts for 5 to 6 years.
4. Doctoral Scholarships encompass a 4-year program.
5. Non-degree Programs are shorter, with a duration of 1 year.
How to Apply for Stipendium Hungraicum Scholarship 2025:
1. The applicants have to apply online on the website of the Tempus Public Foundation.
2. Provide all your detailed personal information, e.g., name, address, date of birth, country, religion, etc.
3. Complete all the required fields for each level.
4. The applicants have to submit the application on the website and save it.
5. After applying to the Tempus Foundation website, the applicants need to apply also through the sending partner of the countries they belong to.
6. Candidates are required to accept the statement for application in the online system.

1. There is No Application Fee to apply.
2. For each country, there is a separate process, and study programs are mentioned. Check the Partners Tab and select your country.
3. Do not forget to submit your Stipendium Hungaricum application on this online platform, starting with a registration: https://apply.stipendiumhungaricum.hu
4. Applicants cannot directly apply to the Hungarian Universities for a scholarship. You need to apply through the Designated Sending Partner Institute in your country.
5. You do not need an admission offer from the Univeristy.
6. Only the nominated applicants can proceed with their applications.
7. Each applicant can apply for up to TWO different study programs, in order of preference.
