Important news for students who wish to complete a Master in Computer Application (MCA) degree. The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has changed the MCA degree program. Now AICTE has reduced the MCA program duration from 3 years to 2 years from this academic year (2020-21). Now the MCA degree course will be for only two years.
As per the official notice issued by AICTE, the meeting was proposed before the UGC on 19 December 2019 to change the duration of the MCA program from 3 years to 2 years. Which has now been approved. Therefore, the MCA course will be of 2 years duration from the year 2020-21.
AICTE has issued a notification stating that students with BCA and Bachelor in Computer Science Engineering or its equivalent degree can take admission in this course. Apart from Mathematics in class XII, BA, BCom, BSc pass students can also take admission in it.
MCA is a very popular course, you can become a master in computer application, but there should be some qualification for this, you should be eligible to do this course. In addition, students pursuing graduation courses have also been determined eligible for admission to MCA. For all these, 50 percent marks have been fixed in General and 45 percent marks for all other Reserve categories.
Earlier MCA courses were of two different duration ranging from two years to three years. Students who entered the MCA course after doing B.Sc Computer Science or BCA had their degree completed in two years. At the same time, MCA used to be three years for those doing any course with Maths in UG. Whereas, now MCA course will be of two years duration for all students.
