Maharana Pratap College was established in 1979 under the trust of the Maharana Pratap Educational Vidyalay Society on a 10-acre campus in Mohania and Kaimur districts, Bihar. College is situated at the side of the National Highway and about 1 km from Bhabua Road Railway Station. Maharana Pratap College was established as an undergraduate multidisciplinary college, and the college was introduced, there were B.Ed. and M.Ed. programmes recognized by ERC, Bhubaneswar, NCTE. The college is affiliated to Veer Kunwar Singh University, Ara, Bihar, as a private aided college, and 2(f) and 12(B) are recognized by UGC.Maharana Pratap College is a premier institution dedicated to teaching and producing future citizens for the nation whose hearts are cultured in indigenous values and minds are sharpened in critical thinking. The college relentlessly pursued the ideals set by its founders and took pride in creating a holistic learning atmosphere for students from diverse backgrounds at a minimum cost. It has highly qualified academicians who impart education in science, commerce, arts, BBA, BCA, and the department of education at the undergraduateat the undergraduate and post graduate levels to more than 5000 students. The college has consistently demonstrated outstanding performance in academics, sports, and extracurricular activities. The college has completed 45 years in the realm of imparting higher education. It has made significant and unparalleled contributions in terms of producing scholars, bureaucrats, intellectuals, and sportspersons serving in different domains.

Over the years, the college has built up an impressive infrastructure. It includes a well-stocked central library, departmental libraries for science subjects, and a book bank for needy students. The college has computer laboratories equipped with ICT. Its sports facilities include a vast sports field that includes a football field, a basketball court, and an indoor sports complex.The college has a modern air-conditioned auditorium fitted with the latest sound and light systems and a seating capacity of 400–500 persons, along with a designated balcony on the first floor to host dignitaries and guests. Besides, the air-conditioned seminar rooms have a seating capacity of 120 people and are fitted with state-of-the-art sound and projection systems. The college has hostel facilities for undergraduate students and is equipped with all functional amenities, such as solar geysers and 24-hour power backup.
