The Vidyasiri Scholarship is an initiative by the Government of Karnataka, India, aimed at supporting the education of students from economically weaker sections, particularly those belonging to the Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC).
This scholarship is especially available from the Department of Backward Classes Welfare Government of Karnataka. Meritorious students belonging to the backward categories are welcome to apply for the Vidyasiri Scholarship scheme in order to help them continue their education. Application form submission for the scholarship program has started. The applicant must be a permanent resident of Karnataka state to apply for this scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria for Vidyasiri Scholarship
1. Residency: The applicant must be a resident of Karnataka.
2. Academic Performance: The student must have secured at least 50% marks in the previous final examination.
3. Educational Institutions: The scholarship is available for students studying in government-aided or private institutions recognized by the government.
4. Income Limit: The annual family income should not exceed INR 2.5 lakh for SC/ST students and INR 1 lakh for OBC students.
Free Hostel Accommodation
1. The Government of Karnataka provides fee for post-matric courses or free hostel accommodation to students in SC/ST/backward classes.
2. The candidate should belong to backward class related to Category I, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B, SC and ST.
3. The limit of the annual income of the parents of the candidate should be ₹ 2.50 lakh.
4. The distance between the candidate’s location and the college where the admission is made should be at least 5 km.
Prathibha Puraskar
1. The candidate should be a permanent resident of Karnataka.
2. The candidate should belong to the backward class related to Category I, 2A, 3A and 3B.
3. The limit of the annual income of the parents of the candidate should be: Category 1 is up to ₹ 2.50 lakh and Category 2A, 3A and 3B are up to ₹ 1 lakh.
4. The candidate should be studying in the Government/private schools/colleges of Karnataka.
5. The candidate who secured 90% or above in Secondary PUC/SSLC exam held in March/April.
6. The candidate can use the Prathibha Puraskar facility only once for equivalent courses.
Full Course Fees Scholarship
1. The candidate should be a permanent resident of Karnataka.
2. The limit of the annual income of the parents of the candidate should be: SC/ST is up to ₹ 2 lakh and backward class/PWD candidates are up to ₹ 1 lakh.
3. The candidate should be studying post-matric courses from schools or colleges recognized by the Karnataka government.
4. The candidate should have 75% attendance.
Application Procedure
1. The applications will be received from the students through the SSP Portal.
2. College principals and BCWD inspection officers will review the applications and documents submitted by the students.
3. The Taluk Backward Classes Welfare Officer will check and verify the applications, then forward them to the district BCWD officer.
4. The District Backward Classes Welfare Officer will check and verify the applications.
5. If approved at all stages, the Vidyasiri Scholarship amount will be directly transferred through DBT to the student’s bank account linked with his/her Aadhaar.
Rewards Details
The following rewards will be provided in this scholarship:
1. 1000 scholarships are offered for students under the SSLC category.
2. 500 scholarships are offered for students under the Class 12 category.
3. Separate 500 scholarships are provided to candidates pursuing Graduation/ Postgraduation (General courses).
4. 500 scholarships are provided to candidates pursuing Professional graduate degrees/ Professional postgraduate degrees (Technical, Medical, and other related science).
5. SSLC candidates receive a scholarship amount of INR 10,100.
6. Class 12 candidates receive a scholarship amount of INR 15,000.
7. Candidates pursuing graduation degrees receive a scholarship grant of INR 20,000.
8. Candidates pursuing a postgraduation course receive a scholarship amount of INR 25,000.
9. Pratibha Puraskar Scholarship scheme directly deposits the scholarship amount to the bank account of the selected candidate.
How to Apply for Vidyasiri scholarship?
Step 1 - Interested candidates can apply for Vidyasiri scholarship by visiting the SSP scholarship portal.
Step 2 - They should register themselves and obtain the login credentials.
Step 3 - Next, the candidates should log in by entering their login ID/SATS ID and password.
Step 4 - The candidates should fill in the application form for Vidyasiri scholarship.
Step 5 - After filling and submitting the Vidyasiri scholarship application form online, the candidates should take a print-out, attach the documents, self-attest the records and send it to the concerned officers.
